Resumo da ópera

     Fiquei alguns dias sem postar pq não estava inspirada para escrever, fiquei pouco tempo em casa, não tinha novidades pra contar…(adicione sua desculpa favorita aqui).
     Agora, algum conteúdo:
    
     I didn’t post for a few days because I wasn’t inspired to write, spent little time at home, had no real news to tell…(add your favorite excuse here).

Tingindo Lãs / Dyeing Yarn

Continuo fazendo experiências com corantes e lã. Abaixo, algumas fotos dos resultados:

I’m still making some experiments with dyes and wool. Below, some pics of the results:

     Primeiro teste.  Para saber como foi feito, clique aqui.  Estou usando este novelo no momento e a cor do tecido resultante é bem bonita.

     First try.  To know how it was made, click here.  I’m using this skein and the fabric’s color is quite beautiful.

     Segunda tentativa.  Usei suco de beterraba e como já disse antes, não vou usar essa técnica novamente.  Detalhes do projeto podem ser lidos no link acima.

     Second try.  I used beet juice and as I said before, I won’t be using this technique again.  Details of this project can be found on the link above.

     Terceira tentativa.  Usei KoolAid de uva e corante alimentício azul.  Para conseguir um roxo mais escuro, depois de tingir com o KoolAid de usa, tingi com o corante azul em algumas partes.
     
     Third try.  I used grape KoolAid and blue food dye.  To achieve a darker shade, after dyeing with the KoolAid, I used the blue dye on some parts of the skein.

     Quarto teste.  Este foi o trabalho mais divertido até agora.  Os tons de verde foram obtidos com corante alimentício e os tons de marrom com KoolAid.  Ao invés de diluir o corante na panela e depois adicionar a lã, coloquei a lã na panela com água e vinagre e fui adicionando as cores às colheradas no locais que eu queria.

     Fourth test.  The most fun I had so far dyeing wool.  The green shades were obtained with food dye and the browns with KoolAid.  Instead of mixing the dyes in the slow cooker and then adding the yarn, I put the yarn in it with water and vinegar and then added the dyes, a few spoons at a time on the places I wanted them to be.

     Eu queria cores que lembrassem uma maçã - branco, amarelo, um toque de verde, rosa e vermelho.  Usei a mesma técnica da lã verde - usando KoolAid Pink Lemonade, Orange e Lemon.  Depois que consegui os tons que queria, mergulhei  partes do novelo em KoolAid Tropical Punch.

     I wanted the colors on this skein to resemble an apple - white, yellow, hints of green, pink and red.  I did the same technique used for the green yarn (using KoolAid Pink Lemonade, Orange and Lemon).  After I got the shades I was looking for, I dyed parts of the skein with KoolAid Tropical Punch.

     Algumas observações:
- O KoolAid é absorvido muito mais rápido que o corante alimentício, talvés por ser mais ácido.
- Azuis são fixados em temperaturas mais baixas que os vermelhos.
    
     A few notes:
- KoolAid is absorved faster than food dye, maybe because it has more acid.
- Blue shades need lower tempertures than red ones. 
   
     Vou usar algumas dessas lãs para tricotar as meias das trocas.  Não direi quais pra não estragar a surpresa.

     I’m going to use some of those skeins to knit the socks for the swaps.  Won’t tell wich ones though.

Monkey Socks

     Terminei o primeiro pé de meia e só faltam duas repetições e os dedos da segunda meia pra terminar.  Faltam alguns toques finais nos outros presentinhos, mas acredito que vou conseguir enviar o pacote ainda esta semana.
     Minha parceira na troca me escreveu final de semana passada e disse que vai postar minhas meias hoje. 

     I finished the first sock and only have to knit another two repeats and the toes of the second one.  I have all the gifts, but need to add a few personal touches to them, but I do believe I’ll be able to send the package still this week.
     My partner contacted me this last weekend and said she’s sending my socks today.

Harvest Socks Swap

     Recebi minha parceira de troca na sexta passada e entrei em contato com ela no mesmo dia.  Ainda não decidi que receita vou usar para fazer as meias pra ela, estou indecisa entre uma meia mais fina com detalhes rendados ou uma mais grossa para o inverno.  A pessoa que vai me enviar as meias me escreveu hoje pedindo algumas informações pessoais que possam ajuda-la a escolher que meia fazer.

     I got my swap partner last Friday e wrote her the same day.  I still don’t know which pattern to knit her, I’m trying to decide between a lighter, lace sock or a thicker one for winter.  The person who is going to send  the sock to me wrote today asking for some personal info so she can decide which sock to knit.

     A Rebeca deixou um comentário super simpático me convidando a visitar o blog dela.  Vale a pena.  Ela tem uma receita para uma boina super bacana lá.

     Rebeca left me a very nice comment inviting me to visit her blog.  It’s worth a visit.  She has a pattern to a cute beret there (sorry.  Portuguese only).
