Final de semana passada, fomos comprar umas lãs que estavam em oferta. Achamos uns novelos maravilhosos da Lion Brand chamados Jiffy, que imita mohair. Eu escolhi alguns tons de verde, pensando em fazer meias listradas pro bonitinho. Como a lã é grossa, resolvemos que apenas um novelo de cada seria suficiente (3 cores diferentes).
Last weekend we bought some yarns that were on sale. We found some wonderful skeins by Lion Brand called Jiffy – a mohair look alike yarn. I chose some shades of green, thinking of doing socks for DH. Since it’s a thick yarn, we decided that one skein of each would be enough (3 different shades).
Cheguei em casa, saquei as agulhas e… mudei de idéia. Comecei a tricotar um modelo (que já nem lembro mais qual é), não gostei e desmanchei. Achei um ponto bacana num livro, montei os pontos, tricotei metade da perna…Ficou muito largo! Desmanchei novamente, montei menos pontos, tricotei metade da perna…largo de novo?!
Finalmente troquei as agulhas por outras mais finas e saiu! Um pé. O outro? Fica pra próxima semana, já que a lã não deu 
I got home, grabbed some needles and…changed my mind. I started to knit some pattern (can’t even remember which one anymore), didn’t like it and frogged it. I found a neat stitch in a book, casted on, knitted halfway though the leg…Too large! Frog again, casted less stitches this time, knitted halfway thought…Large again?!
Finally I switched to some smaller needles and it was done! One sock. The other one? I’ll do it next week, since we didn’t buy enough yarn
Não acho ruim ter que desmanchar um projeto – meu pai dizia que meu nome deveria ser Penélope, pq vivia desmanchando tudo que eu fazia qndo estava quase terminando. O fato é que cada vez que tenho que recomeçar alguma coisa, estou aprendendo com o processo.
I don’t mind having to frog a project – my father always said he should have named me Penelope, because I kept on frogging everything I did just before it was finished. The truth is, every time I have to begin something again, I’m learning.
Eu quero terminar as Monkey Socks, mas ficam aparecendo tentações no meu caminho…Veja só se não é difícil resistir:

- Várias idéias para tricotar um cardigan pro bonitinho…
Além disso, tenho que fazer alguns mimos para as trocas e bolar uma receita pra fazer o macaquinho.
I do want to finish the Monkey Socks, but temptation keeps on crossing my way. Wouldn’t you agree those are hard to resist?

Besides, I have to do some of the goodies for my swap pals and come up with a pattern for a knitted monkey.
